Composed of 59% Cabernet Sauvignon and 41% Merlot (89% from Sonoma and 11% from Napa), the 1999 is a much younger wine than the 1998 and still has some upside potential. A deep ruby/purple color is followed by notes of graphite, unsmoked high class cigar tobacco, black currants and flowers. Round and generous with some tannins in the finish, it is close to full maturity and should drink well for another 15+ years.

Full ruby color. Smoky aromas of currant and roasted tobacco. Lush, sweet and rich; a huge wine with a silky, utterly mouthfilling texture but also plenty of underlying structure. Finishes with very fine tannins, superb sweetness and lingering notes of black cherry and violet. Built to age but distinctly user-friendly today.

There's nothing subtle about this huge wine, which is highly concentrated in the nose; offers black currant, licorice, leather and coffee notes in the mouth; and has a big tannic finish that bodes well for long-term aging, if you're so inclined. Hands down, the top red of the year, and overall, the best bottling we encountered in 2002. Expensive, but worth it for a special occasion.

“To my mind the 1981 vintage in Rioja is analogous to the 1982 vintage in Bordeaux, and will be one of the great classic years of our lifetimes… The 1981 Vina Tondonia Reserva is an utterly refined and youthful wine that is beginning to be drinkable at age twenty-six, but is still emphatically on its way up. The superb bouquet offers up a melange of strawberries, blood orange, citrus zest, lovely soil tones and coffee. On the palate the wine is fullish, bright , tangy and beautifully complex, with a lovely core of fruit, bright acids and a very long, classy and intensely-flavored finish. Delicious now, I would still give this wine a few years to reach its zenith.

From one of the best vintages of the 1980s, this wine has held its freshness as its texture matured to silk. The scent of freshly dug earth and delicate cherry flavors are light yet sophisticated, the tannins still tight, as if ready to hold on forever. A bullfighter's wine, both elegant and tough, for rack of lamb.

Faded red. Gorgeous , multidimensional aromas of dried red fruits, white flowers, spicecake, leather, underbrush, graphite and lavender sachet. Sil ky and seemingly weightless, with a haunting crystalline purity to the sweet strawberry and redcurrant flavors Sweetly insinuating on the finish, with lingering mineral and strawberry flavors. A remarkable wine that's completely out of step with today's styles : this is the stuff that gets die-hard Rioja traditionalists all weepy

Un vin qui est coté Burghound 95 ce qui est égal à une note de Parker 150
Voici les notes de dégustations de Burghound qui datent de moins d'un an: I have been in love with this wine since I first encountered it in barrel and it seems only to have gotten better and better. An elegant, pure and refined nose of earth, coffee, spice and intensely perfumed black cherries combine with focused, tautly muscular, remarkably complex and precise full-bodied, sweet and palate staining flavors that seem to go on and on. But the quality that impresses me the most is the dazzling combination of finesse and power, all wrapped in a finish of near perfect harmony and balance. This should be capable of aging well for at least two decades. A great wine that is not as dense or monumental as the '05 but this is finer. Multiple, and consistent, notes. Aussi, des bons amis FDV sont allés au domaine et le régisseur leur aurait mentionné que le millésime 2001 était l'un des plus grands Clos de Tart produit. Il y a seulement les millésimes 2008 et 2005 qui sont mieux cotés que le 2001 mais, ils seront prêts en 2028. À voir la montée des prix des derniers millésimes, c'est sûrement un vin qui sera de moins en moins souvent dégusté.

Dégustation: Robe soutenue (un peu comme le 2006). Nez empyreumatique et évolué : effluves de tabac, de terre, de soya avec de beaux fruits noirs compotés. Un petit côté végétal très attrayant témoigne d’une vendange entière significative? Bref, belle complexité. La bouche est tout aussi harmonieuse et d’une grande souplesse mais avec une certaine vitalité. La longue finale est fraîche sur des tanins enrobés. Le vin le plus « à point » de la série. Quel plaisir!

Le nez évolue vers des notes finement florales, signifiant le début d'une jolie évolution. Très distingué, avec des arômes de framboises sauvages et d'épices douces, il s'impose comme un très joli classique du cru, avec une grande finesse de tanins et une belle persistance. 18/20.

Producer note: Remarkably, Sylvain Pitiot, the régisseur (resident manager) of Clos de Tart, told me that it was only necessary to chaptalize 3 of the 6 cuvées (there are usually 7) as the average potential alcohol measurement at harvest was a whopping 13%. Now 13% is hardly unheard of these days in 2001 but this is easily one of the highest natural potential alcohol levels for the entire vintage! (Pitiot told me that he chaptalized a half of a degree to 13.5%). He calls the vintage "très classique" and one that will require patience.
There are usually 7 different cuvées that are created from various parts of the vineyard though as noted above, in 2001 there were only 6. These parts are tasted, evaluated and ultimately included, or not, in a blend that creates the final cuvée for each vintage of Clos de Tart. The particular blend for the '01 had not yet been decided upon at the time of my visit though an attempt was made to approximate the final blend through a mix of different cuvées. He expects that the '01 Clos de Tart will be hand bottled from combined lots of 10 barrels, either in March or April. Clos de Tart is usually bottled without fining or filtration though Pitiot said that it is possible that he will elect to fine the 2001.

Winehunter : le Dujac n'a jamais été mis dans le Dreamer 2011. C'était une discussion sur le "side".

Je vais changer mon superbe Colgin pour un RAYAS 2007! Pas besoin de vous mettre les notes Parker mais seulement quelques mots que Gérald Jules Astier à écrit en 1988 sur Rayas : "Dieu existe, je l'ai rencontré! La capitation d'une bouteille de Rayas c'est la traversée initiatique!" Et oui, un petit peu de "poésie" dans ce monde des notes Parker!

Bon....un 1928! oh non...Elle est réservé pour vinapat. Un 1937! Heuuuu non plus! Elle est réservé pour pascalito. Hummmmm il me reste un 1943 ou 1953.... Disons que j'ai encore jusqu'a demain pour faire mon choix.

Ps: les vieux vins comme les jeunes....ne sont rarement retenu dans les Dreamer....

Wow ... des beaux changements ces derniers jours.

Après avoir pris connaissance de la liste de départ, il y avait 3 offrandes qui obtenait mon vote les yeux fermés tant j'ai hâte (je le souhaite) d'y gouter. Mes 5 autres votes se dirigeront vers ce que j'aimerais bien déguster et le choix sera difficile considérant la grande quailté des offrandes proposées. Avec tous les modifications apportées dernièrement, 1 de mes 3 souhaits a été modifié ... mais ce changement est vraiment intéressant.

Vraiment de belles offrandes. Félicitations.

Mais le plus intéressant à séparer pour ce Dreamer est le couple de Tonton Black. Black à la maison avec les mômes....et White à la soirée Comme le dit si bien Thedanny....J'ai mal au ventre....
